PARIS, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- France renewed Tuesday rejection to recognize
Israel's annexation of occupied East Jerusalem of Golan Heights, after Tel
Aviv's decision to organize a referendum on possible withdrawal from the two
areas.
"I would like to remind you that France, like the rest of the international
community, does not recognize annexation of East Jerusalem and Golan Heights
to Israel," Foreign Minister spokesman Bernard Valero said in a briefing.
He was commenting on the Israeli Knesset's, parliament, decision to
organize a public referendum over possible withdrawal from occupied East
Jerusalem and Syria's Golan Heights.
UN Security Council resolutions 478 and 497 do not recognize annexation of
the two sites, just like the December 8th, 2009 decision of the EU foreign
ministers, he noted.
Valero said France urged the Israeli, Syrian and Palestinian parties to
resume dialogue to reach a solution over East Jerusalem and Golan Heights.
