RAMALLAH, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- Israeli authorities released on Wednesday a
Hamas member of the Palestinian legislative assembly after holding him in
prison since 2009.
The Palestinian "Ahrar" center for human rights said in a statement Dr.
Ayman Al-Daraghmeh, who hailed from Tobas, was set free upon an order by an
Israeli military court.
The MP had been held since 2009.
The authorities arrested another member of the council, Dr. Mahmoud
Al-Ramhi, a week ago, as well as the Hebron legislator, Dr. Hamed Qafisha, the
statement said, adding that the prison sentence for the MPs, Bassem Al-Zaarir
and Abdel Jaber Faqha, were extended for four more months.
The release of the lawmaker cut the number of the Palestinian legislators
held by Israel to nine, including Marwan Al-Barghouthi of Fatah and Ahmad
Saadat of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a
Marxist-oriented faction (end)
