JEDDAH, Nov 9 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC)
strongly condemned Tuesday the Israeli decision to build 1,300 housing units
in occupied East Jerusalem in addition to 800 units in the West Bank.
"Settlement does not only affect the basic rights of the Palestinian people
but are a clear breach of the international law and the Fourth Geneva
Convention," OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said in a statement.
Israel's systematic violation of the international law by placing "new
realities on the ground by building settlements and isolating and judizing the
city of Al-Quds is a blatant challenge of international legitimacy," he said.
Ihsanoglu called on the Middle East Quartet and the international community
to force Israel stop all settlement activities affecting the rights of the
Palestinian people. (end)
