(With photo) UNITED NATIONS, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait renewed its commitment to the Arab peace initiative for the Middle East but expressed deep disappointment towards the Israeli reluctance to stop settlements expansion.
This came during a speech for the Kuwaiti permanent delegation to the UN General Assembly's economic committee's 65th meeting. The speech was conveyed by the third secretary of the delegation Abdulaziz Al-Omi who said Kuwait was very concerned over the issue of Israeli settlements which is very threatening to the whole Mideast peace process.
The settlements expansion is a direct violation of international law, said the official, noting that such action was effecting Palestinians negatively especially with the fact that such operations had its ill by-product that included the eviction, harassment, as well as the death and injury of many Palestinians.
In both the West Bank and Gaza, Israel is acting unjustly and forcing Palestinians to suffer more on all levels, noted the Al-Omi who indicated that Palestinians were facing more harsh economic circumstances due to the Israeli actions.
The Kuwaiti official called on the international community to act responsibly in regards to the Mideast issue, saying that matters should not be let without any serious action to stop the Israeli injustice against Palestinians. (end) sj.gta KUNA 051026 Nov 10NNNN
