(With photos) UNITED NATIONS, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait reaffirmed its support for Palestinian refugees' home-return right so that they can live in peace.
Speaking at a UN General Assembly meeting late Tuesday, the assistant first secretary of Kuwait's permanent delegation, Musaid Al-Kulaib, said: "Through this platform, we reiterate Kuwait's commitment towards, and support for, the Palestinian people to get their full rights enshrined in relevant UN resolutions." He even called on Israel to meet UN Security Council resolutions 242 and 338, other relevant resolutions, the land-for-peace principle, Arab peace initiative and roadmap.
He also urged Israel to pull out of all occupied Palestinian territories, and called for setting up an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He vehemently condemned Israel for continuously destroying Palestinian infrastructure, killing unarmed civilians and violating Palestinian rights.
However, he spoke highly of great efforts exerted by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in helping and supporting Palestinian refugees through its educational and health services.
Out of its absolute belief in the just Palestinian issue and the UNRWA's significant role, Kuwait reaffirms its annual full financial commitment worth USD 1.5 million for supporting and backing the agency's activities, the Kuwaiti diplomat said. (end) sj.mt KUNA 031103 Nov 10NNNN
