GAZA, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- Israeli Minister of Defence Ehud Barak is expected
to tell Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu that prolonging settlement
freeze may be the only way to save the peace process, while settlers gear to
celebrate the end of 10-month-long construction suspension, reported Israeli
Yedioth Ahronoth on Sunday.
The Israeli defence minister returned on Saturday from a meeting with US
and Palestanian officials which discussed the matter of prolonging the freeze
of settlements, it added.
He will also ask the Israeli prime minister to prolong the freeze for two
or three months, it noted.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had told the UN General Assembly on
Saturday at its annual debate that Israel must choose between peace and the
continuation of settlements. (end)
