RAMALLAH, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- Israeli occupying forces have intensified its
presence in the occupied city of Jerusalem following clashes between
Palestinians and Israeli settlers, which were sparked by the latter's attack
on Palestinians in Silwan Town, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Palestinian sources say Israeli police forces have been intensively
deployed in Jerusalem and its neighborhoods and have sealed off all streets
and roads leading up to the Old City of Jerusalem.
The Israeli security measures come amid Jewish celebrations when settlers
always provoke Palestinians.
Israel Radio claims that the Israeli moves only aim to fend off further
clashes between settlers and Palestinians in Jerusalem.
A young Palestinian was killed and dozens wounded in confrontations with
Israeli forces in Silwan Town in the occupied City of Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian group in Hebron in the West Bank accused Israel of
using shops owned by Jewish settlers to enlist Palestinian agents to
collaborate with Israeli intelligence agencies. (end)
