Palestinian, Israeli leaders agree on holding another round of talks next week

RAMALLAH, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a two-hour meeting in Jerusalem on Wednesday and the two sides agreed on holding another round of negotiations next week.
Speaking after the meeting, US mediator George Mitchell said the two sides discussed crucial issues and agreed on pursuing the negotiations next week.
Mitchell said US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would travel to Jordan, on Thursday, to hold talks with King Abdullah II, adding that he himself would visit Syria and Lebanon for talks with leaders of these two Arab states that neighbor Israel. Objective of such talks is to secure support for a prospected peace agreement for the region, he said.
Netanyahu, at start of the meeting, that was held in his house, expressed satisfaction at presence of the Palestinian leader in his residence, while his guest wrote in the guests register that he hoped to achieve sustainable peace in the region.
A source at the bureau of the Israeli premier said Netanyahu has not changed his stance regarding the issue of suspending settlement activities. (pickup previous) nq.rk KUNA 152345 Sep 10NNNN
