MADRID, Sept 7 (KUNA) -- Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos
affirmed his country's support for an "independent, democratic and viable
Palestinian state."
Minister Moratinos expressed hopes for the relaunched Israeli-Palestinian
peace talks.
The Spanish official told the press after his meeting on Tuesday with
Palestinian counterpart Riad Malki in Madrid that he hopes that the talks
between Israel and Palestine under the US supervision will reach a lasting
peace agreement in the Middle East.
Minister Moratinos praised the distinguished bilateral relations between
Spain and the Palestinian National Authority, and expressed his full support
to the launch of direct peace talks which began about a week and will continue
to hold meetings in the coming weeks.
Spanish-Palestinian meetings were aimed as part of diplomatic meetings held
here on Tuesday, on the sidelines of Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad's
visit, who arrived in Spain Monday night. (end)
