TEHRAN, Sept 5 (KUNA) -- Iran on Sunday criticized Japan for imposing new
curbs on the country as part of the international sanctions stipulated by the
Security Council resolution 1929.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement that any country
"that enters the domain of imposing curbs against our people deprives itself
of Iran's abudant resources." Such a stance will also be at the expense of the
companies that will lose investment opportunities, he said.
The sanctions will not affect "our steadfastness and determination to
attain our legitimiate rights," the official spokesman added.
Japan imposed, on Friday, new curbs on IraN, including the freezing of
assets related to the Iranian nuclear program. It also imposed restrictions on
financial and commercial transactions.
Tokyo had followed suit of the United States, European Union countries,
Canada and Australia that imposed such curbs in line with the international
measures. (end)
