BAGHDAD, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- Casualty toll of the spate of blasts that rocked
the southern city of Basra on Saturday has increased to 45 dead and 185
wounded, according to updated official figures on Sunday.
Riad Abdel Amir, in charge of the government health department in Basra,
said in a statement that the wounded, many suffering from critical and medium
wounds, were admitted at several hospitals in the southern city.
There were many women and children among those suffering from medium cuts
and burns due to blazes that started after many cars were set afire in the
blasts, he added.
Ali Ali-Malki, the head of the security commission in the southern
province, confirmed that two cars packed with explosives and a bomb were set
