ISTANBUL, July 16 (KUNA) -- A Turkish soldier was killed and another was
injured in a landmine blast in eastern Turkey, local security sources said on
Friday.
The blast took place in a town close to Van province, on the boarders with
Iranian, and the Turkish army said that Kurdish rebels are suspected of
involvement in the incident.
The army is searching the area, NTV network quoted local security sources
as saying.
The Kurdish Labor Party (PKK) is involved in clashes with the Turkish army,
and is seeking self-government in the areas of Kurdish majority. The PKK is
considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU. (end)
