ISLAMABAD, June 28 (KUNA) -- At least eighteen people were killed and more
than forty others wounded in a huge explosion that ripped through an LPG truck
on Monday in Pakistani Southern district of Hyderabad.
Unconfirmed police reports suggested that this could be a suicide blast.
At least eighteen people have been confirmed killed, and over forty wounded
were rushed to two nearby hospitals, said Senior Superintendent Police (SSP)
Muhammad Ali Baluch in statements to the press.
He added that the explosion ripped through an LPG truck, located in the
center of a Bazaar and in close proximity of small hotels and houses.
The SSP denied that this was a terrorist act and said that the explosion
was an accident. However, credible police sources told KUNA that it "could be"
a suicide blast.
They said that police has recovered a severed head from the main explosion
site. The SSP said that police was investigating the incident but it would be
premature to confirm anything.
Local news channels citing Edhi rescue and hospital sources said several of
the wounded were in critical condition.(end)
