LONDON, June 15 (KUNA) -- Two more British soldiers have been killed in
shooting incidents in Afghanistan, United Kingdom Ministry of Defense said on
Tuesday.
They were both from 1st Battalion of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and
died in the Nad-e Ali District of Helmand.
Their deaths follow that of a Royal Marine who died yesterday after a
firefight on Sunday.
Spokesman for Task Force Helmand Lieutenant Colonel James Carr-Smith said:
"Both soldiers were part of security patrols that were involved in operations
to improve freedom of movement for local nationals in Nad-e Ali, Helmand
Province, when they were killed by small arms fire.
The two latest casualties died in separate incidents.
Earlier, the ministry said a serviceman from 40 Commando Royal Marines died
at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham, central England yesterday.
He was injured in a gun fight in Sangin on Sunday.
The British death toll since operations began in Afghanistan in 2001 now
stands at 298 deaths. (end)
