GAZA, 15 (KUNA) -- Israel is trying to prevent an Iranian ship heading to
Gaza from entering the waters of the Mediterranean via Egypt, Radio Israel
quoted senior political sources as saying.
Israel will counter any attempt to break the siege on Gaza by sea, and will
prevent vessels from reaching Gaza shores, including Iranian ships, in spite
of measures to ease the blockade on the Strip, Radio Israel reported.
The Israeli navy is preparing to deal with two ships expected to reach the
region by the end of the current week, which are an Iranian ship, and another
sent from Lebanese Hezbollah Party, Israeli daily Yediot Ahranot stated.
Chief of General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said that countries challenging
Israel by participating in the freedom flotilla campaign, especially Iran, aim
to embarrass and provoke Tel Aviv in international waters, courts, and the
media.
The Iranian ships carried food supplies, building material, and toys, and
this campaign was organized by the Iranian Society to Protect the Palestinian
People.(end)
