ISTANBUL, June 9 (KUNA) -- Turkish Security sources announced Wednesday
that Turkish police arrested 17 people for suspected links to the Al-Qaeda in
Turkey.
Anatolia news agency reported today that the suspects were nabbed in
simultaneous operations in the cities of Ankara, Konya, Istanbul and Antalya.
General Security Directorate in Ankara is currently interrogating them.
The Turkish police regularly targets Al-Qaeda cells and arrests many
extremists in Turkish provinces.
Turkish cell of Al-Qaeda was held responsible for Istanbul bombings in 2003
that led to 58 people being killed.(end)
