ISLAMABAD, May 26 (KUNA) -- At least three people were confirmed killed and
six were wounded in an explosion and firing incident Wednesday afternoon in
the eastern city of Lahore, said police.
A small explosion was heard near the session court building, located on the
busy Mall Road of Lahore, followed by heavy exchange of fire.
Police sources told KUNA that about four armed persons were trying to
release prisoners from the police, who were brought to the court for hearing.
The armed assailnts first hurled three hand-grenades in the court building
and then opened fire at the police and the lawyers, said sources.
They said that only one grenade was exploded and two have been taken into
custody by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
The assailants exchanged heavy fire with police that continued for more
than 15 minutes.
The explosion and firing incident left a lawyer killed and six others
wounded, said sources, adding that two assailants were also killed by police
