KUWAIT, May 13 (KUNA) -- Chairman of the Kuwaiti Ice-Hockey Committee
Fuhaid Al-Ajmi announced on Thursday the preperation for a seven-day GCC
championship to be held in the Ice Skating Rink on May 25.
Al-Ajmi said in a press release that the championship includes four
national teams - UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait which will host the event
- after Qatar and Bahrain said that they would not be participating.
The International Ice Hockey Federation will supervise the tournaments, and
will provide international referees, he said.
Kuwait is well-prepared for the "Khaleeji 1" championship, and the event

Al-Ajmi said that preparations began after booking the rink to host the
tournament, in addition to the accomodation for the visiting delegations and
players.
Other preperations concern preparing our national team players so that they
may put on a good performance during this first GCC championship, he added.
For his part, Secretary of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee Sheikh Nawaf
Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said the championship is an achievement to be registered for
Kuwait, adding that this event would contribute to spreading the game in the
