CAIRO, April 8 (KUNA) -- President of Arab and International Relations
Council Mohammed Jassim Al-Saqer said on Thursday the council held an
emergency meeting at the Secretariat General bureau of the Arab League
discussing the situation in Iraq, particularly the issue of election.
Al-Saqer said the council, which was established in Kuwait last month, was
attended by Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, Egyptian former foreign
minister Ahmad Maher, and the former Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, in
addition to a number of leading Arab political figures.
The meeting discussed a proposal by Arab League chief to set up an
organization for Arab Neighbors Dialogue, stressing on importance of the
council approval for such an organization, whose establishment was blessed by
the Arab summit in Sirt, Libya.
The meeting also discussed ways of supporting Arab issues, especially with
research institutions and legislatures from around the world.
Al-Saqer added Iraqi parties will be contacted to get acquainted with the
actual conditions in Iraq, stressing on importance of forming a government in
the country. (end)
