Israel opens fire on homes in Maghazi, executes incursion into Qarara

GAZA, April 4 (KUNA) -- Israeli helicopters opened fire on Sunday at Palestinian homes in Maghazi Camp, central Gaza, while bulldozers and tanks advanced into the eastern district of the village of Qarara, southern Gaza.
Gaza radio stations reported that Israeli helicopters hovered over Maghazi Camp this morning and opened heavy fire at houses and farmland.
No casualties were reported, but damage was sustained by some of the houses, it said.
In Qarara, Israeli troops executed an incursion into the eastern district of the village, supported by bulldozers and tanks.
According to local radio reports, Apaches hovered overhead and also fired at Palestinian homes and orchards.
Bulldozers destroyed agricultural land, but there were no casualties reported, it concluded.
Meanwhile, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) said that Hamas' recent announcement that it would prohibit the firing of missiles from Gaza at southern Israel was "positive." In a press release, PLO Spokesman Ahmad Assaf said, "It is positive that Hamas has now understood the logic of President Mahmoud Abbas' repeated calls to (Hamas) leaders of the importance of the need to prevent our people from the horror of Israel's reactions to the launch of these missiles." As for the Popular Anti-Siege Committee, meanwhile, said that it would be launching a media campaign and a series of activities to shed light on the "new uprising of ships" and to pressure Israeli into allowing foreigners on board entry into Gaza.
Committee Chairman Jamal Al-Khudhari said in a press release that the campaign would be launched in mid-April, as some 100 foreign vessels were expected to arrive in Gaza's ports beginning from that time.
The aim of these ships is to express solidarity with the Palestinians and to break the siege on Gaza Strip. (end) mzt.ema KUNA 041202 Apr 10NNNN
