Hand-grenade attack on police patrol in N. Iraq

IRBIL, North Iraq, March 25 (KUNA) -- Two policemen were killed in a hand-grenade attack near the northern city of of Kirkuk on Thursday, police said.
A police source told KUNA the hand-grenade was hurled on a police patrol southwest of the city, causing the death of two members of the patrol.
Meanwhile, authorities in Kirkuk declared execution of two officials, convicted of involvement in a deadly bomb blast that claimed more than 80 lives in 2007.
The two convicts had planned and executed the explosion that occured in July near Khabat causeway in the center of the city. The blast killed 80 people and wounded up to 280 others.
The local Kurdish authorities had nabbed the bombers, one identified as in charge of the water department of Al-Huwaijah, 180 kilometers north of Baghdad, and the other was an employee in the health department.
