WASHINGTON, March 16 (KUNA) -- The United States on Tuesday condemned
Irans execution of political prisoners and "urge their immediate and
unconditional release," according to the State Department.
"We urge the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners
and call on the Iranian government to respect the civil rights of its people,"
State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said in a briefing, after Iran
sentenced several people to death for participating in election protests.
"If the Iranian government wants the respect of the international
community, it must respect the rights of its people," Crowley told reporters.
