ISTANBUL, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- Turkish authorities arrested on Saturday one of
the elements of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Turkey's
southeastern province of Hakkari.
The Turkish General Staff said in a statement on its website that the PKK
rebel was arrested as a Turkish patrol was combing the area.
The statement added that the rebel has been moved to the nearest police
station for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the PKK has been launching terrorist attacks in Turkey since
1978 in order to obtain independence of the Kurdish areas. The conflict has
killed more than 45,000 people so far. (end).
