GAZA, Feb 4 (KUNA) -- An explosive device went off near a convoy of the
International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) while it was heading towards Beit
Hanoon crossing Thursday and luckily no one was hurt, local radio stations
reported.
They quoted eyewitnesses as saying unknown persons detonated the explosive
device near the ICRC convoy on Salah Al-Din road near the crossing, northern
Gaza Strip.
The explosion smashed the windows of one of the vehicles of the convoy but
no one was hurt, they said.
Investigations were underway to know who was behind the attack, said the
stations.
ICRC spokesperson in Gaza Ayad Nasr said in a statement the explosion took
place while the convoy was heading towards Beit Hanoon crossing, which is
manned by Israeli forces, smashing windows of a Jeep.
The convoy, nevertheless, did not stop and had left Gaza already, he said.
The interior ministry of the Palestinian government in Gaza said initial
findings showed that the explosion was caused by remnants of the Israeli army
forces near Beit Hanoon crossing. (end)
