MOSCOW, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- Russian President Medvedev announced Thursday the
aborting of 80 terrorist operations and the arrest of more than 500 terrorists
last year in Russia.
Interfax News Agency quoted a statement made by President Medvedev as
saying that terrorist operations in Chechnya, Dagestan, and Ingush signify
that terrorism still poses a serious threat to the country.
Medvedev called for maintaining efforts to eradicate all secret armed
groups and get rid of those carry out and plan terror operations.
He noted that the Russian security services were able to carry out their
assigned tasks and ensure the country's security is a prerequisite for the
success of the policy of upgrading and development.(end)
