GAZA, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- A senior Israeli officer denied on Friday that
Israel had intensions to attack Lebanon.
Al-Sharq Al-Awsat paper, issued in London, reported on Friday that tension
on the Israeli-Lebanese borders increased, an Israeli radio station reported.
The paper quoted Lebanese sources as saying that Hezbollah was on alert,
while other reports said Syria called a number of the fourth backup team, some
of which were employees who lived on Lebanon.
Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak said a week ago that security
situations on the Israeli-Lebanese borders were tense and warned Lebanon and
Hezbollah of escalation.
The Israeli Army recently conducted training and maneuvers on how to act
during an attack like that one launched on Lebanon in the summer of 2006. (end)
