KABUL, Jan 3 (KUNA) -- The Afghan and international troops have killed 25
Taliban in Kunduz province while another commander was killed and three
militants were arrested in Maidan Wardak province, officials said on Sunday.
Muhammad Omar, Governor of the country's northern Kunduz, once considered
the most peaceful zone of the country, said the operation was conducted in
Dashti Arch district.
The governor said the Afghan and NATO troops killed 25 Taliban during the
operation, which was conducted on Saturday.
In the central Maidan Wardak province, the Afghan and NATO forces killed
one militant commander and arrested three suspected militants during an
operation.
Provincial officials said the operation was conducted in Nirkh district of the
province. Shahidullah Shahid, spokesman for the provincial governor, said the
slain commander has been identified as Roohullah.
Three more suspected militants were taken into custody, added the
spokesman. (end)
