KABUL, Jan 2 (KUNA) -- Five civilians were killed and six others injured in
a roadside bomb attack in western Afghanistan on Saturday.
The blast on a civilian vehicle took place in Afghanistan's western
province of Nimroz, officials said.
Colonel Abdul Jabbar, police chief of the province, said the blast took
place late on Friday. He added that the civilians were returning to their
remote village from a market.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Defence Ministry here said that two
militants were killed and eight others arrested by the Afghan security forces
in southern zone of the country.
The statement said the operation was conducted in Meezan district of the
southern Zabul province. Several arms and ammunition were also seized during
the raid, it added. (end)
