BEIRUT, Dec 23 (KUNA) -- Lebanese securitymen arrested the person who
opened fire at a Syrian bus in Deir Ammar area in northern Lebanon two days
ago, announced a senior Lebanese military source Wednesday.
Speaking to KUNA on condition of anonymity, a Lebanese source told the KUNA
here today that the shooter's name is Shawqi Al-Nather, and that his
nationality is being examined.
According to interrogations with Al-Nather, the attack was a result of a
personal conflict between him and the bus driver on smuggling products, the
source said.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Elias
Al-Murr stressed in a press release that the attacker confessed his action.
Al-Nather had opened fire at the bus that had 25 people on board, killing a
Syrian.
The attack occurred as Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Al-Hariri was on a
visit to Syria. (end)
