KABUL, Nov 22 (KUNA) -- Five policemen have been killed in an attack by
militants in southern Afghanistan on Sunday morning.
Police officials said the security personnel came under attack in the
border town of Spin Boldak in Kandahar Province during patrol.
Chief of border police in Kandahar Province General Abddul Razik told
journalists that opponents of the government were responsible for the attack.
Afghanistan's Spin Boldak district is located close to Pakistan's
Baluchistan Province. It is one of the restive districts of Kandahar, which is
also known as the spiritual capital of the ousted Taliban.
Meanwhile, Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Spokesman for the Taliban Yousaf Ahmadi said all policemen in the said
patrol vehicle were killed in the attack.(end)
