NATO troops killed six militants in Afghanistan

KABUL, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- The Afghan and international troops killed six militants and detained several suspects during an operation in central Afghanistan.
A statement from ISAF headquarters here on Tuesday said the operation was conducted in Jaghatu district of the central Maidan Wardak province.
During the search, militants displayed hostile intent outside of the compounds. The joint force used precision aerial fire to kill several armed militants.
The joint force killed another armed militant who displayed hostile intent inside the compound, said the statement.
The force also discovered AK-47 rifles, hand grenades, ammunition, ammunition belts and communication gear. All items were destroyed in place.
Several suspects were apprehended during a separate operation in another compound in Sabri district of the southeastern Khost province.
One of the detainee was identified as the sought-after Haqqani facilitator. No Afghan civilians were harmed during the operations.
The statement said no ISAF soldeir was killed or injured in any of the operations.
Meanwhile, ISAF has announced establishment of a new NATO headquarters to oversee higher level training and mentoring for Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).
"Through better coordination and collaboration between the various organizations currently supporting Afghan National Security Force development, we will be able to develop a more streamlined, efficient and effective training programme that allows for increased partnership with the Afghan security forces," said ISAF commander General Stanley McChrystal.
