ISLAMABAD, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- At least seven people were killed and nearly
40 others were wounded in a car-bomb explosion on Saturday in Peshawar city of
Pakistan.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP)-Operations, Abdul Ghafoor Afridi, told
newsmen at the explosion site that a car-bomb explosion took place in the
parking area of a private bank. He said that it was a remote-controlled bomb,
having a weight of 60 kgs.
He said that at least six people were killed and more than twenty-five were
wounded in the blast. However, media reports citing medics said that at least
seven dead-bodies have been collected from the explosion site and that nearly
40 others have been rushed to nearby hospitals.
Reports also said that several of the wounded were in critical condition,
which could further increase the death toll.
Provincial Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain condemning the blast said
that it was in retaliation to the ongoing military operation in Malakand
Division. He said that there was need to launch operation in Peshawar as well.
Meanwhile, police have arrested two suspected persons from the explosion
