Egypt to take up utmost precautionary measures against swine flu -- Mubarak

CAIRO, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Mohammad Hosni Mubarak on Tuesady stressed necessity to take up utmost precautionary measures to combat the A-H1N1, or swine flu pandemic, even if the matter called for postponing the new school year.
Mubarak's remarks were reported by Minister of Health Dr. Hatem Al-Jabali, who attended a cabinet meeting presided by the president earlier today.
The postponement will take place if a rapid spread of the virus took place, Al-Jabali noted, adding that the situation in Egypt is still "safe yet unpredictable." Local educational TV channels will be utilized to spread awareness about the virus for students in coordination with the health ministry, Al-Jabali said.
Last night, the health ministry confirmed fresh nine cases of swine flu, taking the total number of infectees up to 808. (end) sm.hb KUNA 082039 Sep 09NNNN
