Palestinian fishing boats attacked in Gaza, home confiscated in Jerusalem

GAZA, Aug 2 (KUNA) -- Israeli military boats opened fire Sunday morning towards Palestinian fishing boats in Gaza waters.
Israeli military boats stationed in Gaza Strip waters opened heavy fire towards a number of Palestinian fishing boats, Palestinian sources told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). Meanwhile, a Palestinian of Jerusalem was severely injured today when Israeli settlers and police forces attempted to takeover his house in Jerusalem.
The Israeli police kicked out two Palestinian families from their homes in an up-market Arab district of occupied east Jerusalem, after a court rejected an appeal against their eviction, Palestinian sources said.
Large numbers of policemen moved in at dawn into the homes in Sheikh Jarrah, one of the most sensitive neighborhoods close to the so-called Green Line, which separates east and west Jerusalem.
The Palestinians are being expelled to allow Israeli families to set up their own homes in the neighborhood, despite increasing international calls for Israel to halt all settlement activities in occupied Palestinian lands.
The evictions come after Jerusalem city authorities gave permission for the building of about 20 housing units on the site in Sheikh Jarrah, triggering an international outcry. (end) nq.mt.asa KUNA 021200 Aug 09NNNN
