SANAA, Aug 1 (KUNA) -- A Yemeni soldier was killed and three others wounded
in an Al-Qaeda attack at Al Shabon in the province of Marib east of Yemen, an
official source said on Saturday.
The governor of Marib Naji Ali Al Zaidi said in a press statement released
here today that Al-Qaeda-linked militants attacked the soldiers and their
vehicle, killing a soldier and wounding three others. They also robbed the
vehicle before security forces turned up and injured some of them.
Security forces are hunting 18 people who were responsible for the attack,
with some of them hiding within the villages in Al Shabon area, he said.
The most wanted militants are Aidh Al Shabwani, Ali Saeed Jamil, Nasser Bin
Doha, according to a source at the Ministry of Internal.
Al Shabwani and his associates were reportedly blamed for an attack that
occurred last week in the Abyan province in the South of Yemen, which killed
four soldiers and wounded another.(end)
