New batch of US soldiers joins peace corps in Bulgaria

SOFIA, July 24 (KUNA) -- Up to 26 US soldiers arrived Friday at Graf Ignatev military airbase, 130 kilometers from the capital, in order to join the US peace corps in the country.
A statement by the Bulgarian Defense Ministry said that the new arrivals were of the 25th US voluntary unit, part of the peace corps' 156 soldiers.
The US soldiers would serve for two years in the country volunteering to help develop the country through various tasks that would include administrative assistance and even teaching the English language in a number of schools and colleges, concluded the statement.
