TEHRAN, June 20 (KUNA) -- A terrorist detonated an explosive belt he was
wearing at the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic revolution of
Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, killing himself and injuring one person, a
security official said.
The Assistant Commander of the Operations of the Iranian Interior Forces,
Brigadier Hussain Sajidi told the Iranian Mehr news agency that the explosion,
that took place during the afternoon (local time), wounded a visitor and
inflicted damage at some warehouses at the burial site of Ayatollah Khomeini.
Ayatollah Khomeini was the founder of the Islamic revolution that ousted
the pro-Western regime of of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in 1979. Khomeini had lived
in exile in France before toppling the regime with substantial popular support
