The convoys carried 220 tons of humanitarian assistance, blankets and tents presented from Kuwait to those in need among the Palestinians in Gaza Strip, said Sheikh Faisal Al-Sabah at a ceremony held for the hand-over of the relief supplies.
Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) prepared the convoys, delivered the aid to Jordan and handed the supplies to the UNRWA, in cooperation with Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization and Jordan Red Crescent (JRC).
Al-Sabah praised the Kuwaiti leadership, namely His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, for supporting and helping those in need in the Islamic and Arab worlds.
"The contribution of aid to our brothers in Palestine," Al-Sabah said, "is intended to taper off their hardships resulting from the Isreali attacks," he said.
Ambassador Al-Sabah praised the role of both the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization and JRC for sending relief supplies to the Palestinians.
On his behalf, Ford expressed his appreciation for the Kuwaiti contributions, which reached USD 34 million. (end) ab.mao KUNA 171653 Jun 09NNNN
