GAZA, May 7 (KUNA) -- Israeli Navy arrested on Thursday five Palestinian
fishermen in the open sea off the north of Gaza Strip.
Palestinian security sources said to Kuwait news agency (KUNA) Israeli navy
personnel aboard gunboats intercepted a Palestinian fishing boat carrying five
fishermen who were engaged in fishing in the Sudanese region oFf northern Gaza
Strip.
The Israeli naval personnel opened fire towards the fishermen and arrested
them, the sources said, adding that the fishermen boat and equipment were
damaged.
The fishermen, whose identity was not determined, were taken to an unknown
destination.
Israeli naval units target the Palestinian fishing boats in the Sea of Gaza
on daily basis.
Earlier today, a Palestinian woman was wounded when Israeli troops manning
positions east of Rafah opened fire from heavy arms. (end)
