DAMASCUS, Jan 12 (KUNA) -- President Bashar al-Assad and his Sudanese
counterpart Omar Hassan al-Bashir on Monday stressed that stopping the Israeli
aggression should be accompanied by withdrawal of the Israeli occupation
forces, lifting unjust siege imposed on the steadfast Palestinian people in
Gaza and opening crossing points.
This came during the official talks of the two presidents today.
Talks during the meeting focused on the grave situations in the Gaza Strip
due to the continuing Israeli massacres against the defenseless Palestinian
people.
There was an agreement on the need for urgent and united Arab action and
intensifying efforts along with the international community to pressure Israel
and oblige it to stop its aggression.
On the other hand, Al-Assad stressed that Syrian people and government
stand by Sudan in the face of threats it is exposed to and attempts of
division and interference in its internal affairs.
For his part, President al-Bashir highly appreciated Syria's positions in
support of the just Arab causes, saying that the firmness of these attitudes
is the guarantor for the best Arab future. (end)
