CAIRO, Dec 31 (KUNA) -- Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal called
upon the Arab foreign ministers during their urgent meeting in Cairo on
Wednesday to focus on action rather than rhetoric to halt the Israeli
aggression in Gaza.
Head of the Arab Foreign Ministers' Council in its current session, Prince
Saud Al-Faisal said, "The situation in Gaza is a massacre, and a crime against
humanity, additional violence and extremism are expected in absence of any
peace plans, which Israel claims it is working towards."
Questioning, he said, "What peace could be achieved from a mad military
machine that only destoys and kills? which reflects the true Israeli identity.
"The current events eliminate all peace options."
He also held Israel responsible for the critical situation, resulting from
the its aggression that continues to claim Palestinian lives, and destroys
Gaza, stressing, "Israel's security cannot be achieved unless total peace is
achieved by granting the Palestinian people their rights."
He pointed out, that this dangerous and critical situation calls for a
serious Arab and international stand to stop the Israeli violence and
destruction of Gaza.
Prince Al-Faisal stressed, "This massacre could have been prevented had the
Palestinian people taken a united stand under one leadership."
He then addressed the Palestinian people saying, "The Arab nation cannot
extend a helping hand, if you are not united", adding, "The Arab nation is not
concerned with blaming one side or the other, it is concerned with ending this
nightmare."
"It is time that Palestinian factions take a united stand, and elect a
government that would represent all Palestinians", he affirmed.
The Saudi minister highlighted, "history will not forgive those with
non-lasting slogans," he added, "the continuity of division among the
Palestinian people, enables Israelis to take advantage of this situation."
He expressed hopes that God Almighty would unite the hearts of Palestinians
and Arabs, "To achieve the Palestinian aspirations, of independence, freedom
and dignity." (end)
