MOSCOW, Dec 22 (KUNA) -- Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov lauded here Monday
efforts by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to bring his countrymen
together.
Lavrov said in a joint news conference with Abbas that Russian would
support the Palestinian President's efforts for unity, hoping that regional
countries such as Egypt would continue to help Palestinians on this aspect.
To achieve peace in the region, all parties involved in the process must
abide by their promises, stated Lavrov who addressed Palestinians and Israelis
to follow the roadmap for peace in the Middle East.
He indicated that Russia was keen on developing economic relations with the
Palestinian authority.
Abbas, on his part, thanked the Russians for their role in the Mideast
peace process, affirming that Palestinians were as well keen on bolstering
relations with Moscow. (end)
