BEIRUT, Aug 29 (KUNA) -- Lebanese President Michel Suleiman is to meet with
US President George W. Bush at the White House on September 25, a Lebanese
daily said on Friday.
President Bush will meet with his Lebanese counterpart in Washington to
discuss bilateral relations and Lebanon's economic and military needs, Annahar
daily said, quoting informed US sources.
Suleiman's visit to the United States comes in the framework of his
participation in the session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in
New York, the daily added.
President Suleiman, according to Annahar, would have preferred to meet with
President Bush in New York instead of Washington, yet the White House and
State Department made it clear that the reception of Suleiman in Washington
would give the visit and talks greater significance.
Expected to accompany the Lebanese president is Foreign Minister Fawzi
Salloukh and some presidential advisers, but the final formation of the
delegation have not yet been determined.
Suleiman's visit to Washington comes before his expected visit to Iran.
