NEW DELHI, Aug 19 (KUNA) -- India and Russia Tuesday signed a protocol on
military technical cooperation, as part of efforts to boost bilateral military
ties.
"The 8th meeting of the Indo-Russian Working Group on shipbuilding,
aviation and land systems was held here on August 18-19 within the framework
of the Indo-Russian inter-governmental commission on military technical
cooperation. A protocol was signed by both sides at the end of the working
group meeting," according to an Indian Defence Ministry statement issued after
the meeting. "The talks were held in highly professional manner in an
atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding," the Ministry said.
The two countries exchanged views on implementation of current projects
like T-90 Tanks, Missile systems, various shipbuilding activities and aviation
sector projects like the fifth generation fighter aircraft and multi-role
transport aircraft. They also agreed to take steps for ensuring their
successful implementation.
"The working group noted the progress that have been achieved in the
development of military and technical co-operation and agreed to take measures
to further develop cooperation between the two countries," the Ministry
