RAMALLAH, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- U.S. Security Coordinator for Israel-Palestinian
Authority Affairs Lieutenant General Keith W. Dayton stated on Friday that
Israel has allowed the delivery of 200 bullet-proof jackets and 142 vehicles
to Palestinian security forces.
Dayton in an interview with Israeli daily Haaretz, added that Israel will
make entry easier for Palestinian security forces trained in Jordan.
He indicated that Israel's willingness comes following the US
administration's efforts to strengthen Palestinians' grasp over security in
their areas.
The Lt. Gen. expressed satisfaction at the level of performance attained by
the Palestinian trained personnel, expressing that they were well prepared to
handle security responsibilities in the West Bank.
The newly-appointed security personnel would also prevent attacks on
Israel, which would lead to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from lands they
are operating on, according to Dayton.
He conveyed that Palestinians should be given broader political boundaries
in order to form a more effective security force. (end)
