ISLAMABAD, June 21 (KUNA) -- At least 30 tribesmen were killed and nearly
25 were wounded in fierce clashes between rival groups in Pakistani tribal
agency, said officials Saturday.
Clashes erupted between rival religious groups in Tiara area of Khyber
tribal agency, bordering Afghanistan, on Friday, security officials told KUNA.
They said both sides were trading heavy fire and using mortar shells, small
arms and other heavy weapons.
Officials said that at least 30 tribesmen have been confirmed dead and near
25 others including five women and 10 children sustained injuries. They added
that several houses have also been destroyed in cross-firing.
Officials said that two days of fighting has paralyzed life in the region
and a large number of population has fled to safer areas. (end)
