Radio station loyal to Sadr bloc shut-down in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, May 8 (KUNA) -- Joint MNF-Iraqi troops shut-down on Thursday the Al-A'had radio station in Baghdad.
Vice Chairman of the Journalism Freedom Monitor organization Hadi Jalo affirmed the closing of the radio station located in the Baladat area, adding that the troops indicated they were ordered by the cabinet to enforce the shut-down.
The Sadr bloc on its part condemned the shut-down of Al-A'had, saying that the MNF was attacking freedom of expression with this act.
Al-A'had was merely conveying the voice of the people and their aspirations, but ending the service of the station was against all notions of freedom of expression, said the statement. (end) mhg.gta KUNA 082311 May 08NNNN
