Violence in Kirkuk, Mosul kills, wounds 9 people

IBRIL, May 3 (KUNA) -- Nine people were either killed or injured in violence which swept Kirkuk and Mosul cities, said a security source on Saturday.
The source told KUNA two policemen were killed when gunmen opened fire on them in the center of Mosul, adding that a bomb also targeted a police patrol in city, killing a citizen and injuring three policemen.
A source of Kirkuk police indicated that an IED blast also caused the injury of three policemen.
Meanwhile, Iraqi and MNF forces began an operation in Balad Roos town, southeast of Diyala, which witnessed a suicide attack on Thursday, killing 31 people.
The operation led to the arrest of 75 gunmen and the discovery of several weapons caches as well as the confiscation of a number of vehicles. (end) ahh.sbr.gta KUNA 031330 May 08NNNN
