NEW DELHI, Dec 25 (KUNA) -- At least 14 rebels of the Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam (LTTE) have been killed by the security forces in a series of
clashes in nothern Sri Lanka.
As many as 10 LTTE rebels were killed on Monday in Kandaperumakulama,
Pokkaravani and Navatkulama areas in Vavunia, the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry
said in a statement in Colombo Tuesday.
In Mannar region two LTTE rebels were killed also yesterday. In another
incident, troopers killed two LTTE cadres in Jaffna region, the Defence
Ministry said.
The Defence Ministry also said that Army personnel have taken control of a
part of LTTE-held Thampane in Vavuniya-Mannar region in northern Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, pro-LTTE Tamilnet website today claimed that one Sri Lankan army
man was killed and 28 others injured in three separate clashes in Mannar on
