ALGIERS, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- Algerian army forces are besieging a group of 12
gunmen in Skikda, 560 km east Algiers, security sources said here Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, the army moved immediately to get engaged in clashes
with the armed group before surrounding its elements, the sources said.
During the operation, Algerian troops destroyed hideouts of the gunmen and
recovered a considerable quantity of munitions, they added.
Meanwhile, another armed group killed two members of self-defence divisions
and seized their firearms at Amarna in Sidi Bel Abbes State, 450 km west
Algiers. (end)
